One of the main reasons players over-swing the club is from a lack of the hinging motion with the wrist at the start of the back-swing. Most players have been told, ” take a one piece take away”, this is usually interpreted as don’t hinge the wrist on the back-swing and try to swing straight back. For most players, this will create over-swing which usually leads to a flipping or scooping motion at impact. There are many great tour players out there that set the club (create 90 degree angle between left forearm and shaft) late in there back-swing, but be sure they are not over swinging the club.Tiger woods is a good example of player with a late set. For those that do over swing the club which usually leads to a scoop at impact, creating thin and fat shots, try this move in your back-swing.

This is the same swing method Tiger Woods has been talking about converting to due to the stress of his heavy tourqing. This is also the same swing that Ana Sorenstam has been using for the last few years. Yes, rotating the head with the turn of the right shoulder along with a passive grip as well as a loaded left side (irons and fairway woods) is what Ron del Barrios Passive golf swing is all about. 2009 PGA of America National Teacher of the Year, Mike Bender, shows you how to use one of his recommended elite training aids: the swing extender. The Swing Extender is a key training aid for developing width in the golf swing, by not letting the right arm bend to much, the width of the backswing is maintained thus creating a wider arch and more distance for the golfer. The instant you strap it on your arm and take a swing, you’ll hit the golf ball longer, straighter and with more control. That’s because the Swing Extenderâ„¢ creates the proper extension of your arms during the backswing by preventing the arms from overfolding and then promotes the correct release of the arms and hands during the downswing. This 90 degree “power angle” formed at the top of your backswing allows you to create a wider swing arc by keeping your left arm straight (right arm for left-handers). The Swing Extenderâ„¢ prohibits collapsing of the arms while encouraging a better shoulder turn. It’s the hardest move to master and feels completely unnatural to most amateurs, but once it’s learned, the rewards are most satisfying. Increased distance, accuracy and lower scores are a direct result of the maximum clubhead acceleration you create with your wider arc and fully extended arms. PGA Master Professional Tommy Brannen, also recognized as one of the country’s leading golf instructors, created the Swing Extenderâ„¢ for golfers just like you.

We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** Dialog from the Video ******************************************************** My name is Grant Halverson and I’m a Master Instructor at the Aviara Golf Academy. Today I’d like to talk to you about creating a little more distance with your driver. Something we’re asked as instructors is “How do I get the ball to go farther?” and one of the things we see all the time, is that people tend to work harder to get less. So, what I’d like to give you is a little bit of a swing mechanic drill to try to get you to achieve more distance. The first thing we want to do is make sure that our back swing gets fully turned as we go back. Our body is coiling up, our hips are moving around and back and our left shoulder is getting somewhere behind the golf ball. If my left shoulder is over here I’m going to only have the power of my arms to kind of hit it with and I’m going to use all arms to go in. I’m going to lose a lot of distance. So, if I can get myself to get nice and patient as I go back, get my left shoulder behind the ball, I want to feel like my arms are tension free and my legs are moving the club down …
